Akhil engagement called off?

​Hyderabad: Akhil Akkineni’s engagement to Shriya Bhupal, granddaughter of business tycoon GVK Reddy, in December was the talk of the town. But it looks like the happiness surrounding the coming together of two illustrious Telugu families is going to be short lived.

Because from what sources tell us, the engagement has been broken and the wedding that was planned this May been called off. While reasons surrounding this new development are unknown considering the families of the duo are affluent, it is understood that an effort has been made to sort out the things.

Concerned about the razzmatazz this news would create if it came out, Nagarjuna has apparently made efforts to initiate a dialogue to clear things up. "Although the engagement was a private affair, it received a wide coverage because of the two families involved.

Since reputation is at stake, the actor insisted that the families meet over the weekend in the city to discuss if things could be brought back to normalcy. However, the meeting didn't yield the desired outcome. As of now, it seems certain that the destination wedding in Rome, Italy has been put off. An official confirmation about the same is awaited,” sources told The Hans India.

Akhil and Shriya have reportedly dated for two years before deciding to take their relationship to the next level. While Akhil debuted as an actor in the late 2015, Shriya, who reportedly graduated from Parsons School of Design from New York, is the owner of designer label Shriya Som.

Bollywood actresses Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor and Radhika Apte have been frequently spotted in Shriya's creations.
