Model-turned actress Rukhsar Mir, who’s had a dream debut in Sandalwood, is glad that her Telugu debut ‘Akathayi’ (directed by Rom Bhimana) opened to positive talk. The actress is happy to be part of the team, taking those first steps into Tollywood.

“I’m touched to see the warm welcome I’ve been getting. I was surrounded by a young and enthusiastic crew, so spontaneous suggestions were considered and everyone was trying to give it their best," says the UK born actress with a degree in fashion design.

Having done a handful of films in Kannada, Rukhsar who considers herself as an accidental actress, feels the learning curve was big in her Telugu film. “I am fortunate to get the freedom and space to perform in my debut film itself. As a kid I was always expressive, and I was tom-boyish, so the director asked me to just behave the character.”

So what does this success mean to her? “It means a lot and only made me more responsible and pushes me to do better. I believed in the script and now I stand vindicated,” adds Rukhsar, who would soon be seen in another Telugu film ‘Show Time’ directed by SS Kanchi.
