With B-town A-listers like Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Sonakshi Sinha and Katrina Kaif showing reluctance to take up Telugu films, T-town stars and dream merchants are chasing flop B-town heroines. After big flops in Bollywood, actresses like Pooja Hegde, Kiara Advani and Amyra Dastur wouldn’t have dreamt that they would become sought-after actresses in T-town.
No doubt, these actresses are gorgeous and boast of svelte figures, but in a short span of time these actresses have worked with T-town superstars like Mahesh Babu who will romancing Kiara Advani in his next ‘Bharat Ane Nenu, while Allu Arjun wooed Pooja Hegde in ‘Duvvada Jagannadam’ and drawing anywhere between Rs 1 to 1.5 crore per film. “Frankly, we can’t blame these actresses for demanding fancy pay cheques.
T-town stars and directors are desperate to have a B-town heroine in their films and it works both ways,” says leading producer Bogavalli Prasad, who admits that glam divas of B-town add value to a big production. “Rs 1 crore plus is not a big sum in a Rs 40 to 50 crore production, but surely we are paying bit more than even B-town producers these days,” he adds.
With superstars Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun and Prabhas who agreed do work with Shraddha Kapoor in ‘Sahoo’, irrespective of their poor career graph, just to avoid repeating the casting with local heroines like Kajal Agarwal, Tammanah, Shruti Haasan, these B-town bombshells are bound to extract their pound of flesh.
“It is true that big stars dislike repeating established heroines and demand fresh pairing to keep their fans happy, hence producers stay back in Mumbai for weeks, until they sign a pretty heroine at all costs,” says director Meher Ramesh, who says it is has been the norm for years and finds Amyra Dastur who is working with Sundeep Kishan as a 'gorgeous girl'.
