The much-awaited biopic on the life of the legendary actor, the late NT Rama Rao was launched at the Ramakrishna Cine Studios at Nacharam in Hyderabad on Thursday following a customary puja titled `NTR', the film will have actor Nandamuri Balakrishna playing the title role.

"I am a great admirer of NTR as an iconic actor as well as a politician of stature," said Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and added "Usually, Presidents and Vice Presidents don't attend film functions, but I made an exception since NTR was the pride of Telugu people and I feel honoured to be a part of this event." The Vice-president recalled with nostalgia, his association with the legendary actor.

In his speech director Teja said “I’m extremely lucky to get the opportunity to direct a film based on the life of the great actor NTR which I never even dreamt off." He expressed the hope that he would be able to live up to the expectations of Balakrishna’s fans.

In his speech, Nandamuri Balakrishna said that it was his good karma done in his past lives that he was able to enact the role of NTR onscreen today.

“We live in times, where we forget everything very quickly. To make sure that the history of NTR and his greatness remain permanently etched in the people’s memory, we are making this film,” said Balakrishna, who was dressed up as Duryodhana for the muhurt shot.

It may be recalled that NTR enacted this role with great aplomb in the three films, ‘Srikrishna Pandaveeyam’, ‘Dana Veer Soora Karna’ and ‘Srimad Virtata parvam.’
“We are working very hard to make a script that does justice to the life of NTR and people across the country, who are waiting to see this film. The script is coming out very well,” he said.
