Aspiring director Jai Kumar, who has been alleging that the maverick director Ram Gopal Varma has copied his story for the Telugu film ‘Officer’ starring Nagarjuna has not lodged a complaint with Telugu Film Writers Union till date. Even though he has been mailing his grievance to the media, he has not lodged a complaint with the Writers Guild to get justice.

“We haven’t received any complaint from Jai Kumar against Ram Gopal Varma because it is the right forum for him to get justice and compensation,” says a member of the guild. “Even courts have asked writers to first lodge complaints with their respective forums because it is the primary institution to resolve this dispute between a writer and director. If the aggrieved parties are unhappy, then they can move the court,” he adds.

Already, RGV has denied the allegations of his erstwhile assistant and dismissed it `baseless’ and `false’. “I was inspired by a real-life cop so the question of copying doesn’t arise at all,” he said. Going a step forward, RGV filed a police complaint against Jai Kumar accusing the latter of morphing his pictures with a woman's body and trying to make the picture go viral on social media.

In this way, RGV stated that he was trying to degrade his image and requested the police to take proper legal action against Kumar. While Jai Kumar, in a mail, termed it as a ‘silly complaint,’ he vowed to continue his fight for justice. On the ongoing RGV-Jai Kumar face-off, another top Telugu writer, on condition of anonymity, says, “Actually, RGV was inspired by the Hollywood film ‘Taken’ for ‘Officer’ so, we don’t understand what this fuss is all about.
