The film starring Rajinikanth, Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, Eeshwari Rao and others released in 1,800 theatres in India on 7 June 2018. The film was dubbed into Telugu but ended as a disaster.
Meanwhile, the film is running successfully in some parts of Tamilnadu especially Chennai city. Kaala 18-days total Chennai city gross is 11.25 CR which is an all-time No.5 city grosser. Superstar Rajinikanth is the only hero to have three 11CR+ grossers in the city and they are Enthiran, Kabali and now Kaala. This is a big achievement for the actor in the city which would definitely help him for his upcoming movie.
