Kothagudem: While most of the government school teachers are allegedly skipping their duties in rural Telangana to tend for their innumerable personal works, this pedagogue begs to differ. Not satisfied with his responsibility as a teacher in his school, he is busy preparing study materials for students to prepare for competitive examinations.
This Social Studies teacher, K Shyam Prasad, working in Jawahar Dayanand Anglo-Vedic School in Dolamite township in Karepalli mandal is thus fast becoming the hot favourite of aspiring job holders. In his effort to bridge the divide between rural and urban students, he has compiled newspaper clippings into a book for the benefit of students who want to appear for competitive examinations. Now, it is a common sight that scores of students thronging at his house after school hours to go through the material.
He turned his house into a virtual information dissemination centre maintaining books compiled on various topics. He is not only a Social Studies teacher but also a socially-conscious teacher. He draws appreciation from all quarters for his service to society. For the past 10 years, Shyam Prasad has been compiling materials for competitive examinations on current affairs and other topics from various Telugu and English newspapers, including The Hans India, for the benefit of students.
Besides current affairs, he compiled books on history, social studies, English crossword puzzles, grammar and so on. Besides compiling the information, he also explains students various aspects and clears their doubts. Further, he has an impressive collection of dictionaries.
The newspaper clippings of Young Hans are useful for the youth, he said. Shyam Prasad is making the students go through the dictionaries and helping them acquaint with newspaper terminology. He is making the students go through his compiled books.
