Accused in girl’s murder surrenders
The mystery behind the murder of Vemula Rupa (7) in the town on Saturday was unravelled with the arrest of the accused by the police on Monday. Disclosing this to newsmen here, Nuzvid In-charge Circle Inspector KNV Jayakumar said Rupa, daughter of V Yesu and Mariyamma of Yanadi Colony, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the bushes in Usha Bala Nagar II apartments area.
Nuzvid (Krishna): The mystery behind the murder of Vemula Rupa (7) in the town on Saturday was unravelled with the arrest of the accused by the police on Monday. Disclosing this to newsmen here, Nuzvid In-charge Circle Inspector KNV Jayakumar said Rupa, daughter of V Yesu and Mariyamma of Yanadi Colony, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the bushes in Usha Bala Nagar II apartments area.
Based on a complaint by Mariyamma, a brick kiln worker, Nuzvid Sub-Inspector Sk Jabir registered a case. While the girl’s murder case was being investigated, Islawat Sita (26), a brick kiln worker of Yanadi Colony, approached the Nuzvid town police through VRA Prathipati Rajakumari and confessed to committing the crime.
When questioned, Sita who lost her husband, said Mariyamma’s brother Pandella Samiyelu and Yesu’s kin Subhani were making frequent calls to her mobile phone and talking in an indecent manner. Sita got angry with Mariyamma for giving her mobile phone number to Samiyelu and Subhani and asked the latter to reprimand the duo for their misbehavior with her. But she did not heed her request.
Instead, Mariyamma was allegedly pestering Sita to develop an illicit relationship with a tractor driver of Sunkollu. Sita wanted to take revenge against Mariyamma for subjecting her to harassment. In pursuance of a plan, she took Rupa to the Usha Bala Nagar II apartments area on some pretext and strangled the girl to death, the CI said. Sub-Inspector Jabir was also present at the news conference.
