9 get lifer for kidnapping
The Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court at LB Nagar on Tuesday sentenced nine persons to life imprisonment in a kidnapping case and also directed them to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
Hyderabad: The Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court at LB Nagar on Tuesday sentenced nine persons to life imprisonment in a kidnapping case and also directed them to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
The case was registered at Moghalpura police station in May 2009. The victim Sunil Kumar Srivastav of Shah Ali Banda, along with his son Sudheer was on his way home on a bike when they were intercepted by an unknown person. The stranger told Sunil that a certain Rahul from Visakhapatnam had come to meet him regarding a business transaction.
After about four hours, Sunil's family received a ransom call for Rs 10 lakh from Sudheer saying that Sunil and Sudheer had been kidnapped.
After detailed investigation, the police arrested K Sridhar (30), M Satyajeet Rajesh (29), M Rajendra Prasad (30) and C Tanuj Kumar (28) of Krishna district, G Srinivas Reddy (41) of Tirupati, S Potaraju (41) of West Godavari, K Ramalinga Prasad (49) of Kurnool and M Srinivas Reddy (32) of Secunderabad on May 16, 2009 and produced them in Court. The police found that the accused persons were also involved in five other cases of kidnap and extortion.
During the trial, the 11th Additional Metropolitan Session Judge examined 34 witnesses and convicted the accused.
