Hyderabad: Anti Corruption Bureau officials on Friday recovered Rs 37.5 lakh from the AP State Education Board director M R Prasanna Kumar at a hotel in Saifabad. Prasanna Kumar along with a private college owner was arrested by ACB personnel on Thursday for collecting money from DEd colleges of Andhra Pradesh.

Subsequently, checks were conducted by the ACB at a hotel in Saifabad on Friday. The sleuths recovered Rs 35 lakh from a room where the money was concealed by the director.

Basing on Rafi’s confession, raids were conducted at room number 201 in Sri Venkateshwara Abodes Hotel at Saifabad. We recovered Rs 35 lakh from the room checked in by Rafi. This amount was also collected as bribe from the representatives of DEd colleges of AP since July 25,” said ACB DG M Malakondaiah.

On credible information, the ACB personnel arrested director of the Government Examinations of Andhra Pradesh, MR Prasanna Kumar and one Rafi, owner of some DEd colleges in AP for collecting bribe from the DEd (Diploma in Elementary Education) college managements who were coming to verify the eligibility of candidates admitted through management quota.

They had recovered Rs 9.65 lakh from the car of Rafi on Thursday. The DG informed that investigation in the case was still on and searches at some places were yet to be conducted.
