Proddatur (Kadapa): A man committed suicide along with his son and daughter at Sambatur village in Kamalapur mandal on Thursday by consuming soft drink laced with poison. According to information, Jampala Chandrasekhar Reddy of Nagendra Nagar in Proddatur was a commission agent.

On knowing that her children would fall critically ill on attaining the age of 20 due to the congenital disorders, Ramadevi committed suicide by consuming soft drink laced with pesticide five years ago. Her attempt to administer pesticide to Manjunatha Reddy and Hansika was foiled by her husband. He married Kavitha of Muddanuru after the death of his first wife.
He got a son through his second wife.According to his relatives, Chandrasekhar Reddy was facing severe financial problems for the past few months. The congenital disorders of his son and daughter made him feel more anguished.
Following his decision to commit suicide along with his son and daughter, he brought Manjunatha Reddy and Hansika from their educational institutions on Thursday afternoon. Later, he took them to a temple at Sambatur on his motorcycle.
After giving the poison laced soft drink to his children, Chandrasekhar Reddy also consumed it. When the three fell unconscious, some farmers working in the nearby fields rushed to the spot and shifted them to a private hospital in Proddatur. All the three died on Friday.
