Rajamahendravaram: Rajamahendravaram urban police have chased a case in which a woman was left to die. A person from Kurnool district was nabbed in connection with the case and produced before media on Thursday.Chilukuri Bhavani belonging to Peda Pallala village of Alamuru mandal in East Godavari was found in conscious condition with both her hands tied and abandoned in a railway quarter in Rajamahendravaram. She was found when workers were cleaning the quarter on October 7.

The relatives of the deceased have already filed a missing case in Alamuru police station. The police shifted Bhavani to Rajamahendravaram government general hospital and later was shifted to GGH, Kakinada. Bhavani died in the hospital in Kakinada on October 15.

According to Rajamahendravaram urban SP, B Raja Kumari, Bhavani has known Sheik Nabi Rasul from 2011, who works as an electrical worker and hails from Kurnool district, when both were working at railway quarters in Rajamahendravaram. Bhavani gave a loan of Rs 25,000 to Rasul and both were in contact though Rasul went back to Kurnool.

On September 29, Rasul called on Bhavani and told her he was coming to Rajamahendravaram to payback loan amount and boarded the train in Guthi. He came to Rajamahendravaram on September 30 and met Bhavani at the abandoned railway quarter. He came into the building with liquor and a soft drink bottle and made Bhavani drink the soft drink after mixing sleeping tablets in it.

After Bhavani consumed the soft drink, he tied her with sari and assaulted her sexually. Later, he robbed her and left her to die in the abandoned building.After enquiring about the call data of the deceased mobile, police arrested Rasul in Kurnool and brought him to Rajamahendravaram. About 34 grams of gold and Rs 30,000 cash has been recovered from accused. Police have filed case in Rasul under the sections 376, 394 and 302.
