Hyderabad: The city police arrested a marijuana smuggler from Golconda on Sunday. The police team was surprised when they found marijuana being grown indoors by the smuggler.

The South Zone Task Force team nabbed Syed Shahed Hussain, a resident of Manikonda, when he was waiting to deliver marijuana to prospective customers at a hotel in Golconda.

The 33-year-old private employee led the police to his house in a residential apartment, where the police team was surprised to see that he was actually growing marijuana indoors.

An addict himself, Hussain used to procure marijuana from Tandur at a lower price and sell the same to drug abusers in Hyderabad at higher prices.

However, he got the idea of growing marijuana indoors and sought advice from his friend G Christopher of the US and began growing marijuana plants in pots on a trial basis as advised by his friend.

However, before he could reap the yield, the police got a wind of it and seized 8.6 kg of marijuana ready for sale, 40 pots containing marijuana plants, one motor cycle, Rs 32,000 in cash and some other material used in growing marijuana plants.
