In two separate incidents, two officials of irrigation department were caught red-handed while allegedly accepting bribe from a contractor in Sircilla on Tuesday.

ACB sleuths caught Executive Engineer Chiranjeevlu red-handed while accepting Rs 15,000 towards bribe from a contractor, Krishna Reddy.
As a part of Mission Kakatiya, Krishna Reddy had built a pick-up wall (at a cost of Rs 15.4 lakh) at Venkataraopet in Konaraopet mandal. The mandal officials sanctioned the bill for construction. But, Chiranjeevlu demanded bribe from Krishna Reddy.
Irked Krishna Reddy lodged a complaint with ACB sleuths, who laid a trap and caught Krishna Reddy.
In another incident, Deputy Engineer Naresh demanded Rs 10,000 towards bribe from the same complainant. Naresh threatened the contractor with dire consequences. He too was caught red-handed in a trap laid by ACB.
ACB DSP Sudershan Goud said that he received various complaints stating the irrigation department demands bribe even for minor works. “Action will be taken after looking into the complaints. Files in the irrigation department were seized,” he added.
