Hyderabad: An officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) was arrested on Tuesday and sent to prison for allegedly harassing his wife for additional dowry.According to the Jubilee Hills police, the accused, K Vamsi Krishna, married Shravani in 2015. He was working as Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax in Vijayawada at the time of his marriage. He allegedly received huge amount in cash, gold ornaments and a residential flat as dowry.

However, soon after the marriage, Vamsi Krisna's mother removed the maid and forced Shravani to do all the chores and treated her just as a servant. Shravani informed this to her husband but he not only kept quiet but allegedly began harassing her with the help of his family members for additional dowry, the police said.Further, Vamsi Krishna also got himself transferred to Delhi without informing Shravani.

She, however, managed to find his address and went to Delhi to live with him but in vain. Realising that she had been cheated, Shravani lodged a complaint with the police. She also informed the police that her husband and in-laws were trying to get her killed using hired goons. Consequently, the police registered a case against Vamsi Krishna and his family members and arrested the accused.
