Hyderabad: Three ISIS suspects were arrested from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Punjab after Counter Intelligence (CI) Cell of  Telangana police provided leads to their counterparts in other States.

Searches were carried out in five places by the anti-terrorism squads of various States. The terror suspects were arrested from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh, Jalandhar in Punjab and Mumbai.

According to sources, the CI Cell of Telangana, which earlier arrested over a dozen ISIS operatives by consistently tracking the social media accounts, got wind of the activities of the three suspects and shared the information with their counterparts in UP and Mumbai.

Acting on the information, searches were carried out in Mumbai, Jalandhar, Bijnor and Muzaffarnagar and also in Narkatiaganj in Bihar, sources said. The three operatives are suspected to be part of a terror module which was building a new organisation with instructions from handlers based in Iraq.

The group was planning to launch strikes and a massive recruitment drive was on when the module got busted, sources said.
