Amaravati: A techie, identified as Guntur Ravi Kumar, landed behind the bars for showing TDP government, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and son Lokesh in a bad light in social media. The Thulluru police on Friday arrested him in Hyderabad under Section 292 of IPC (circulation of obscene material) and relevant sections of the IT (Information Technology) Act.

The arrest was made following a complaint by Assembly secretary K Satyanarayana at the instance of TDP MLC TD Janardhan.

A computer professional based in Hyderabad, Ravi Kumar allegedly posted a picture of the legislature building on a social media platform. Photographs of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh were inserted in the main picture allegedly with an objectionable content.

The government claimed that the postings had belittled the stature of the House. Police action against the netizen came in the wake of TDP government’s recent decision to crack the whip on social media activists indulging in a negative campaign on the government and leaders.

Meanwhile, party senior leaders D Manikya Varaprasad and Varla Ramaiah said the accused was an activist of the YSRCP and resorted to anti-TDP campaign in social media at the behest of its leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
