Eluru: A septuagenarian died and seven others were injured, when the auto in which they were travelling turned turtle after hitting a culvert at Lankalapalli village in Kukunuru mandal in West Godavari district on Sunday morning.According to police, eight persons Adapa Nagayya (70), S Pullayya, S Yedukondalu, E Venkateswaramma, M Srinu, Ch Krishnaveni and two others of Burgumpahad area in Telangana boarded an auto to go to Gubbala Mangamma temple in Buttayagudem mandal to offer prayers in the morning.

When the auto reached Lankalapalli village, the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit a roadside culvert resulting in the auto turning turtle. Eight persons travelling in the auto-rickshaw received injuries in the accident. As the condition of six persons was serious, the local people immediately shifted them to Bhadrachalam government hospital in a lorry.

When the lorry reached Bhadrachalam, the seriously injured Adapa Nagayya succumbed to injuries.The villagers said that all the injured are residents of Burgumpahad in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana.Kukunuru police reached the spot and registered a case. The deceased is survived by wife and two children.
