Hanamkonda: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Saturday arrested the Deputy Tahsildar of Kazipet K Anil Kumar while accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakh.According to sources, the accused official had demanded the amount from complainant Pulluri Sammaiah in return for a proceedings copy related to a land dispute. The official had collected two cash cheques worth Rs 3 lakh in advance from the complainant as a safety deposit for cash.

ACB in-charge DSP T Sudharshan Goud, in an interaction with the presspersons said that for the past twenty days the accused official had been troubling Sammaiah by denying the said proceedings copy even if he was ready to pay Rs 5 lakh.
Not able to bear the trouble, Sammaiah approached the ACB and a trap was laid on Saturday to catch the accused deputy Tahsildar in the act at his residence at Teachers Colony in Hanamkonda.

The complainant said he was holding a general power of attorney (GPA) of 3.3 acres land owned by K Buchiramulu and seven others under survey number 166 of Shayampet village in the district.

As some persons took illegal possession of the land, the GPA holder approached the Joint Collector in 2005. He then directed Kazipet Tahsildar to probe into the issue and file a report. The Tahsilder Kiran Prakash issued the proceedings revising the records on June 2, 2017.

“When I asked for the proceedings copy related to my petition on ROR cancellation, the Deputy Tahsildar demanded Rs 6 lakh and was not ready to accept any amount less than that” Sammaiah said.

It might be noted here that the accused official was in the past presented with certificate of appreciation by the government in recognition for his services.

ACB DSP said they would also probe whether there were any other complaints against the accused official and will produce him before the ACB court in Hyderabad. CIs S V Raghavender Rao, S V Ramana Murthy and G Venkateswarlu also took part in the raid.
