Task Force to curb fake seed menace
The Department of Agriculture in coordination with the State police embarked upon controlling the menace of spurious seeds by forming a Task Force team at different levels in the State.
Hyderabad: The Department of Agriculture in coordination with the State police embarked upon controlling the menace of spurious seeds by forming a Task Force team at different levels in the State.
Apart from the Agricultural department officials and police, the teams will comprise of members from the Telangana State Seed Certification Agency and Telangana State Seeds Development Corporation Limited.
Principal Secretary Agriculture C Parthasarathy said the teams will be making surprise inspections in cold storage godowns, processing units, shops selling seeds at district levels. They will be following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to avoid any deviation from the main purpose.
“A training session was held with the teams of Task Force, where they were educated on SOPs to be adopted during the raids at different locations. This year we shall be taking stringent action against any person involved in selling spurious seeds,” said the official.
