Asifabad: Five people were killed, including two on the spot and six others sustained severe injuries when the auto they were travelling in collided with a truck near Bendera village in Wankidi mandal on Tuesday.

An auto with passengers was going to Asifabad. The auto driver couldn’t notice the truck coming in opposite direction and lost control over the auto and collided with the truck. The deceased were identified as Ade Tirupathi (22), Vedmi Amba Rao (25), Moherle Santhosh (18), Lendugure Ramesh and Moherle Ganesh. Moherle Tirupathi, Moherle Santhosh, Moherle Ramdas, Ram Chandar, Vadai Ganesh and Takre Ravinder were seriously injured.

The incident took place while they were returning from a fair at Goddess Bhavani temple near Sarandi village. Tirupathi and Amba Rao died on the spot and M Santhosh died while undergoing treatment at Asifabad Hospital.

Lendugure Ramesh and Moherle Ganesh succumbed to injuries while they were being shifted to Mancherial Hospital as the doctors were unavailable at the moment in Asifabad Hospital.

Kagaznagar DSP Habib Khan, Circle Inspectors Srinivas, Prasad Rao and Venkateswarlu, Sub-Inspectors Raju and Tukaram inspected the spot.

Youth Associations expressed anger over unavailability of doctors at Asifabad Hospital. Former MLA Atram Sakku, DCC General Secretary K Vishwa Prasad Rao and Kerimeri ZPTC Member Abdul Kalam consoled the injured.
