According to police, Pudi Eswar (19) of Bhimavaram along with his friend Patnala Srinivas boarded the latter’s car to reach Gannavaram Airport.

The car driver Pratap apparently dozed off and hit the divider at Gundugolanu village and jumped on to the other side of the national highway and hit an Innova car going towards Visakhapatnam, which in turn hit a police escort vehicle, which was engaged in the duties of escorting to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Reddy Subrahmanyam.

In this incident, the police escaped unhurt. While Eswar died on the spot, Srinivas was grievously injured and succumbed to injuries at a hospital. Car driver Pratap escaped with minor injuries. The inmates od Innova car Nimmakoti Saikrishna and Vishnu Prasad were seriously injured and were shifted to Vijayawada
