Eluru: Police raided a gambling den at Chintalapudi village on Wednesday and took six people into their custody. Later, they paraded the gamblers half-naked in the streets which created controversy.

According to sources, Chintalapudi CI P Rajesh on a tip-off that some people were gambling at a village. The CI raided the den and took six people into their custody. Later, he paraded them half-naked all the way from the gambling den to police station.

Meanwhile, the relatives and friends of the accused gathered at the police station and raised slogans against them. They demanded that police explain on why the accused were paraded half-naked.

In a statement released, the police defended their act stating that they did not parade the accused but the accused refused wear clothes and came to the station half-naked.
