Rajamahendravaram: The urban police nabbed two persons and seized demonetised Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes worth Rs 1.95 crore along with two cars late on Tuesday night.
Disclosing the details to the media at police guest house here on Wednesday, superintendent of police B Raja Kumari said that two persons, who were standing beside a car at Shirdi Sai marg of Jawaharlal Nehru road, ran after they spotted police on routine patrolling on Tuesday night.
The police managed to nab them and were identified as Vanga Durga Sridhar (40), of Krishnaiahpalem village near Tadepalligudem and Kodavati Iswar Rao (38) of Tadepalligudem. The accused were reportedly looking to exchange demonetised currency.“This looks like a large scale racket and we are investigating the case,” the SP said.
