Hyderabad: The police on Wednesday arrested an electrician for making threatening calls and demanding Rs 80 lakh from a city based industrialist. According to police, the electrician developed a grudge against the industrialist after the later refused to pay his full fee.

According to police, in the year 2012 the accused Sarath Kumar Sahu (33), a native of Odisha came into contact with Manoj V Parmar, the complainant. Parmar signed Sarath for an electrical contract and agreed to pay Rs1.6 lakh.

Sarath completed the work in two months and Parmar paid him Rs 1.3 lakh. “As such Sarath hatched a plan to threaten him and started sending threatening messages and demanding Rs 80 lakh.

He claimed that he installed CCTV cameras in his bathroom and recorded all the videos of his family and threatened to post the videos on internet if he reported the matter,” said C Shashidhar Raju, Additional DCP, Task Force.

Based on the complaint received on September 17, the police nabbed the accused from Jubilee Hills. A case was registered under IPC sections 387 (putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion) and 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication).
