Padmalatha murder case registered against Ravi Babu
The New Port Police Station registered a murder case against DSP Dasari Ravi Babu in connection with the death of K Padmalatha who died under mysterious conditions last year.

The DSP was already arrested in the murder case of rowdy-sheeter Gedela Raju two days ago and presently under judicial remand. A case under SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was also registered as Padmalatha was a Dalit.
A formal complaint was registered by her father Kakara Nookarju, former MLA of Paykaraopeta, soon after the arrest of the DSP. “The motive behind the murder of Gedela Raju was the killing of Padmalatha. Now the DSP faces the double murder case,’’ said DCP T Ravi Kumar Murthy.
Nooka Raju in his complaint mentioned that his daughter Padmalatha was killed by Gedela Raju at the behest of Ravi Babu. It may be recalled that Ravi Babu while working as Inspector of Police in Yelamanchili Circle between 2000 and 2003, developed an extra-marital relationship with Padmalatha promising to marry her. But he did not keep his word and started avoiding her.
The affair destroyed her married life and she got separated from her husband Jagadish, who died of a disease in 2008. Padmalatha started pressurising him to marry her and had even submitted representations to the then DGP and the Commissioner of Police, Visakhapatnam, in March, 2016.
Fed up with her harassment, the DSP wanted to eliminate her and sought the help of Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Raju and Gedela Raju. Prior to that he also paid some money by selling his land but Padmalatha insisted on marriage. Ravi Babu offered Rs one crore to Gedela Raju to kill her.
According to Nookaraju, his daughter was slow-poisoned to death by Gedela Raju and she died in September 2016. But it was shown as a natural death.
Later, the DSP with the help of Bhupatiraju Srinivasa Raju eliminated Gedela Raju as he was blackmailing the police officer for the unpaid sum of Rs 50 lakh of the total promised amount of Rs 1 crore. Raju claimed to have the recorded clip of their contract. He got Raju killed on October 6 and the body was dumped near Sabbavaram.
