Hyderabad police rescued a one-and-half-month-old boy, who allegedly was sold for Rs 40,000 to a woman by his mother's neighbour in Medak district.

The police arrested both the women involved - Jayashree and Anasuya under relevant sections of Juvenile Justice Act.

It is learned that the neighbour of the boy's mother, Jayashree had allegedly sold the infant to Anasuya shortly after his birth in September. The boy’s mother, a housemaid had sought financial assistance from Jayashree for delivery but after the birth, she was told the baby has been shifted to another hospital due to his ill-health.

After numerous pleas to know her son’s whereabouts, the boy’s mother lodged a police complaint. The police traced the boy in Medak and reunited the mother with the boy.
