Woman poisons child to death in Prakasam district
A four-year-old child was killed after he was allegedly given food laced with poison in Prakasam district.The incident occurred in Pidathalapudi in Chimakurthi block, when an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker gave snacks allegedly laced with rat poison to the boy, Dhananjay.

The incident occurred in Pidathalapudi in Chimakurthi block, when an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker gave snacks allegedly laced with rat poison to the boy, Dhananjay.
The ASHA worker, Jyothi went to an Anganwadi or child care center in the village on Friday where she gave the snacks when the help was away for some work and the in-charge at the Centre was busy in a meeting.
Two days later, the boy started vomiting and was rushed to a hospital in Ongole town. His condition deteriorated and was then shifted to a government-run hospital in Guntur where he succumbed to death on Sunday.
The child's parents and other relatives staged protests at the police station demanding justice and alleged that Jyothi killed the by to old enmity. The accused, Jyothi has been taken into the police custody.
