Luxettipet: A gang of 13, including six from Tamil Nadu, were arrested while digging an ancient house of one Sama Raju in Nomulavada to unearth ‘hidden treasure’ on Monday. The police recovered two crowbars and shovels from them and material used for performing mumbo-jumbo prior to treasure hunting.

According to Circle Inspector Pratap, cases were registered against them. He said last year also eight persons were arrested from the same house while searching for treasure. He warned the people against resorting to such activities. According to the police, during a consultation, a local priest told Sama Raju that treasure was hidden in his ancient bungalow in Nomulavada village.

He employed six workers from Tamil Nadu, four from Dharmaram in Peddapalli district and two from Korutla in Jagtial district and a local person on the pretext of constructing a toilet. Over questioning, the arrested revealed that they conducted a recce a month ago and prepared to perform the mumbo-jumbo. Meanwhile, the police got information about another gang treasure hunting in Jinnaram mandal.
