Hyderabad: The Cyber Crime department sleuths of Cyberabad arrested a person who cheated the gullible public by claiming that he would provide them employment abroad. In this connection, he defrauded three brothers to the tune of Rs 12 lakh by promising them that they would be sent to Singapore.

According to the police, Syed Shakeel Ahmed, a visa agent and resident of Attapur cheated Shaik Aleem and his two brothers, all residents of Chandanagar. Believing him blindly, they transferred money to the tune of Rs 12 lakh in his bank accounts.

“Aleem grew suspicious and checked up the official website of Singapore and he came to know that the accused was cheating them by sending fake visa and immigration letters purportedly issued by the Singapore Government,” said Janaki Sharmila, DCP, Crimes, Cyberabad.

She said that since 2001, his modus operandi included posting of advertisements in newspapers and TV channels. Recently, the accused also started posting his advertisements on www. timesjob.com and www.naukri. com. “About three months back, the accused also posted the Ad in www.quikr.com website about a Singapore Airlines Job,” added the official.
