Kothagudem: A six-member fake currency printing and exchanging gang was nabbed in a raid by the police, led by circle inspector Srinivasulu, and fake currency worth Rs 96,000, a computer printer, CPU were recovered. The arrested, including the female kingpin Akula Venkata Ramana, were remanded.

Venkata Ramana has been figured as the accused in several fake currency cases earlier. According to the CI, the accused Akula Venkata Ramana had been printing fake currency at her home in Ashok Nagar. Panduga Ravi Kumar and Nayamatulla Khan of Babu Camp in Kothagudem, Kola Durga Prasad of the town, Dharawat Bhadru of Burgampahad in Sarapaka mandal, Konathala Nagababu supported her illegal activity. The gang had set the stage to cheat the gullible tribals in the Agency areas.

The ID Party staff, Sankar and Ramesh, gave correct information. Assistant Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutta appreciated Srinivasulu and SI P Karunakar in detecting the case.­
