Hyderabad: An M-Tech graduate was arrested by the Task Force for running a fake education consultancy in Begumpet on Thursday. The accused cheated several students by promising admissions into reputed colleges for B Tech, MBBS and other professional courses.

According to the police, A Aravind Gupta, Director of Careers Gateway and resident of Bowenpally, earlier worked as assistant professor in different Engineering colleges and gained knowledge about admissions into various colleges. Initially, the accused collected the information of students from various junior colleges. Then he established the consultancy office at his convenience and appointed employees, tele-callers and instructed them to call students and inform about admissions in reputed colleges India and abroad.

The accused trapped the victims and informed them that he had good contacts with the managements of reputed colleges in India and abroad. On the false promises of providing admissions, he maintained attractive broachers, pamphlets and other material. “When the innocent candidates were attracted to his version and showed interest in procuring seats, he demanded them huge amount towards capitation fees of various courses,” said P Radhakishan Rao, DCP, Task Force.
