Three persons including a boy were killed and 24 others received injuries when a Scorpio vehicle collided with an auto and hit two motor bikes near Kurellagudem village in Bhimadole mandal on Sunday. 

Eluru/Dwaraka Tirumala: Three persons including a boy were killed and 24 others received injuries when a Scorpio vehicle collided with an auto and hit two motor bikes near Kurellagudem village in Bhimadole mandal on Sunday.

According to police, a family consisting of six persons from Durgapur of West Bengal started their journey to Gudivada to participate in semi Christmas celebrations in a Scorpio vehicle.

The car owner Jingam Anandaraj is driving the vehicle. When the car reached Kurellagudem village in Bhimadole mandal, Anandaraj lost control over the vehicle and hit two motorbikes and an auto carrying 16 women daily labourers from Kurellagudem village of Bhimadole mandal.

Later, the Scorpio hit the divider on the National Highway. Paluri Arun (8) and his grandfather Dasari Krishnaiah (62) who were travelling on the motorbike died on the spot.

All the 16 women workers and auto driver sustained injuries. One of them Chalamala Satyavbati (45) of Kurellagudem village succumbed to injuries in Eluru Government Hospital.

Krishnaiah (62) was taking his grandson to Kondalamma temple near Kurellagudem village to perform Pooja as Sunday happened to be the birthday of the boy. While they were on their way to the temple the tragedy struck them.

Another motorist Karnati Narasimha Rao also received injuries in the mishap. Scorpio owner Anandaraj of Gudivada is working as development officer of LIC in Durgapur in West Bengal. Anandaraj and his father Solmon Raju also sustained severe injuries. Anandaraj’s mother, wife and two children received simple injuries. All the injured were shifted to Eluru government hospital in 108 ambulance.

On learning about the mishap, Unguturu MLA Ganni Veeranjaneyulu reached the spot and consoled the relatives of the victims. He went to Eluru government hospital and requested the doctors to extend better medical treatment to the victims.

Earlier the Bhimadole CI BN Nayak, SI Sriram Gangadhar reached the spot and shifted the injured to hospital. The daily wage women workers from Kurellagudem boarded the auto to go to Chinna Eggepuram in Dwaraka Tirumala mandal to attend the agriculture activities. Eluru DSP K Eswara Rao went to the hospital and gathered details from the victims on the accident.
