Hyderabad: Four days since the murder of 26-year-old Soumya, who was found charred at her residence Suraj Arcade apartment at Erragadda on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, yet no key evidence was recovered. Around five teams are probing the case from every possible angle, however, the police are yet to develop key leads to identify the accused.

The investigating officers suspect the involvement of someone of her acquaintance who might have allegedly killed her. The police suspicion is based on the crime scene as there was no foul play detected. It seems like the assailant effortlessly walked-in and out, said an investigating officer.

On Monday night, neighbours rushed to Soumya’s flat after noticing fumes. The onlookers found Soumya’s body in flames and informed the police. Her body also had deep cut and stab injuries. The police earlier assumed that she had been set on fire after her death but are waiting for the confirmation of an autopsy report.

The SR Nagar police are reportedly interrogating victim’s husband Naga Bhushan, a civil-engineer with L&T Metro Rail. On the night of the incident, he reportedly left his office at around 8:00 pm. A team is working out to find his whereabouts on Monday night.

Banjara Hills ACP Vijay Kumar said, “the case is currently under investigation and hence we cannot reveal the details at this stage as it may become a hindrance to probe. Forensic team, clues team and other teams are working tirelessly on the case.”

When asked about the involvement of victim’s husband, he said “We cannot come to any conclusion whether is committed or not, and also we cannot rule out the possibility.”

Soumya and Naga Bhushan were married four years ago and have a one-and-a-half-year-old baby boy. They migrated to the city from Visakhapatanam after they were married and recently moved into the Suraj Arcade apartment.
