Fraudsters bilk Rs 1.6 cr from jobless

Hyderabad: The Central Zone team of Commissioner’s Task Force apprehended a person who swindled Rs 1.6 crore on the pretext of providing jobs in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWW&SB), here on Monday.

The arrested person was identified as Baddam Yellesh (32) a resident of Azampura. The accused used to work as a bartender. According to police, the accused lost his job when the authorities demolished the bar located in Abids in a road widening.

While searching for jobs he met with K Ravindra Swamy who introduced himself as an officer working in the Secretariat and promised him to provide government job as a attender in HMWW&SB. After learning that he was cheated by him, instead of raising a complaint against him, the duo hatched a conspiracy to cheat jobless persons.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, P Radha Kishan Rao said, “The accused used to visit new places including churches only to befriend with jobless people. He used to play the same tactics that how he was cheated earlier.

He used to take money ranging from Rs 1 lakh to 10 lakhs, depending on the nature of the job. To make them believe he used to create fake appointment orders”.As many as 75 persons were cheated by the accused who swindled Rs 1.6 crore, Deputy Commissioner said.

The police appealed the public to not fall prey to such fraudsters, who make promises of providing employment for money through backdoor either in private or public sector.
