Tuition teacher held for bid to rape minor

​Hyderabad: A tuition teacher was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a 12-year-old girl near his residence in Lenin Nagar under Meerpet police station limits.

The incident which took place on Friday evening, came to light on Saturday. The girl who lost her mother was staying along with her grandmother. On Friday evening, she, with a hope to get some cold water from the accused, Gopi, visited his place. As he was alone, he attempted to sexually assault her, but after she raised an alarm, he fled from the spot. She informed her grandmother about the incident and after watching her bleed, she lodged a police complaint. She was taken to Osmania General Hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, it also came to light that earlier the same girl faced rape attempt by another neighbour Srikanth. Both the accused were taken into custody and the police began investigation. In another case, a youngster was taken into custody for alleged sexual assault on a 6-year-old under Chaderghat police station limits on Friday night.

According to ACP Sultan Bazar M Chetana, the youngster was taken into custody and after thorough examination, the police will be applying relevant Sections under POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences). She said following complaint from parents of the girl, the police initiated action against the culprit. It is believed that there were already some cases against the accused Ismail, who is a habitual offender and consumes whitener as drug. The police registered a case against the accused and began investigation.
