Ongole: An extramarital affair led to suicide of a woman and murder of her lover by husband and relatives in Chimakurthy mandal, said the Ongole DSP, B Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday.

According to the DSP, Vadapalli Venkata Ramanaiah of KV Agraharam village in Chimakurthy mandal used to have extramarital affair with the wife of Tottempudi Venkateswarlu of the same village. As the affair came to light one day three years ago, the wife of Venkateswarlu committed suicide at her mother’s village. The village elders fined Venkata Ramanaiah for Rs 3 lakh and gave it to Venkateswarlu to settle the issue.

But not pacified by the action of the elders, the family of Venkateswarlu has been looking for a chance to kill Ramanaiah since then. In the mean time, Venkateswarlu’s brother Balakrishna went into brawl two times and the elders tried to make peace again.
On May 4, 2018, Ramanaiah went to Chimakurthy on a motorcycle and consumed alcohol before starting to go home.

After observing the movements of him, Venkateswarlu and his nieces Tottempudi Rambabu and Kaki Ramu of the same village informed the same to Balakrishna who wanted Ramanaiah dead at any cost. He assured them to take care of events after the murder and encouraged to kill him using the opportunity. So the three bought a knife in Chimakurthy and started following Ramanaiah on motorbikes.

After crossing the crematorium of SC Colony of Chimakurthy, Ramanaiah stopped his bike to answer a phone call. Finding it the right moment, Venkateswarlu, Rambabu and Ramu attacked him with a stone on his head and cut his throat with a knife. After confirming that Ramanaiah was dead, they informed Balakrishna, who asked them to flee from there immediately. Balakrishna also left the village and joined the three to find a shelter for them.

After receiving the complaint from Yellamanda, brother of Ramanaiah, the Chimakurthy police investigated the case. The ASP Sumit Garud, CI M Muralikrishna and their staff questioned 25 people to solve the case and found the movements of the accused with their mobile tower signals. On Wednesday, they arrested the accused in the fields of Chimalamarri village and was sent to remand.

The SP Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu and Ongole DSP B Srinivasa Rao appreciated the efforts of ASP Sumit Garud, CI Muralikrishna and their staff.
