Hyderabad: In a domestic violence case, a 31-year-old woman was cruelly tortured by her husband at their residence at Salarjung Colony under the limits of Lunger House police station on Friday.

K Jyothi, a staff-nurse at Petlaburg maternity hospital, sustained multiple burn injuries, when her husband, Prashanth (35), hurt her with the sweltering iron box. She had received several injuries on her hands, fingers, and neck. The couple had married about six years ago and have two children of five and two-years-old.

She has been admitted to a private hospital and her condition is said to be out of danger. Following an altercation with his wife, Prashanth inflicted her with iron box, the police said. It is learned that Prashanth has been harassing her since the very next day of his marriage demanding dowry. “He used to take all her salary and never gave accounts of her money,” said M Ravindar, Sub-Inspector of Lunger House.
