Two foreign nationals booked under PD Act
The Cyberabad Commissioner of Police on Tuesday had invoked Preventive Detention (PD) Act against two foreign nationals who were allegedly involved in ATM frauds by installing skimmers onto the ATMs.
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Commissioner of Police on Tuesday had invoked Preventive Detention (PD) Act against two foreign nationals who were allegedly involved in ATM frauds by installing skimmers onto the ATMs.
The detenues were identified as Vasile Gabriel Razvan (18), and Buricea Alexandru Mihai (23). Both the accused were Romania nationals, police said.
According to police, the accused came to India a few months ago on the business visa and residing in Gachibowli. They recced at several ATM centres which were being operated without security guards. Then, they fixed the skimmers to various ATMs of AXIS bank, HDFC, Canara and UBI bank.
They have also installed cameras on the top of the ATMs to capture the Personal Identification Number (PIN). Later, a day after they used to visit the ATMs to collect the skimmer and cameras.
