TS govt should be wary of Modi

Update: 2018-08-06 05:30 IST

The TS government has made yet another attempt to seek the intervention of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get what it should as per the A P State’s Reorganisation Act should not become complacent with whatever response the Prime Minister gave.

Since it was a one-on-one meeting, no one except these two leaders would know what transpired. But if Modi’s style of functioning is any indication one can guess that the maximum he would have said was Zaroor Dekhenge.

While wishing that the Centre responds fast and positively, it would be better if the TS government plays a safe game to avoid repetition of what happened in Andhra Pradesh. So far in last four years, the TS government has written 11 letters on 11 issues but still things seem to be stuck at the level of Hum dekhenge.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister had visited New Delhi 29 times when Modi-Naidu jodi’s live-in relationship was intact. Modi will not hesitate to meet top leaders like Chief Ministers as long as the going is good and it would remain good as long as you keep asking but don’t expect any result.

On Saturday TS Chief Minister told the Prime Minister that unless division of High Court was done, and other pending issues were cleared, formation of TS will be incomplete.

He urged Modi for early completion of railway projects, transfer of defence land for new secretariat building, funds for development of backward areas, IIM and IIT for Telangana, Sanction of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and review of stand on ITIR and revive it.

Let’s take a look what Naidu had said in past when he gave the wish list to Prime Minister and sought his intervention to fulfil all the promises made to his state under AP Reorganisation Act.

“We didn’t discuss politics. I made a detailed representation of the issues concerning the state which have been pending clearance from the Centre for the last two years. I am confident that the Prime Minister would resolve all the issues and he gave an assurance to that effect,” Naidu had told the media, after the meeting.

The demand was the same, “Act on key issues,” and the assurance was also similar. Will resolve all the issues. With just six months left for polls, the TS government should intensify its efforts to see that the issues were resolved fast as BJP has mastered the art of blaming the state government even on issues where the centre has major role to play whether it be the reservations for Muslims, the Kapus or OBCs.

In the neighbouring AP we are seeing how even important BJP leaders including some MPs are using language which does not behove the soldiers of so called disciplined saffron party. The real meaning of saffron colour is “Strength and Courage.” But with elections not very far away verbal pollution between all the parties is on the increase. The time for Sabka Vikas is over. It’s time for Kaun Kis Ka Haath Pakdega.
