The notable speakers at the inaugural function were Padmashree Dr Bakul Dholakia, Director General, Prof Nalin Jain, Chairperson - ExPGDM, Prof Arvind Chaturvedi, Newly appointed Dean- Graduate Programmes & Alumni Relations and Prof. Barnali Chaklader- Chairperson- FPM Programme and Research, IMI-New Delhi.

IMI-New Delhi was the first corporate sponsored business school that started with one year Executive Post Graduate Programme in International Management in 1984 in collaboration with IMI Geneva (now IMD Lausanne). On global benchmarking, IMI refurbished and launched its Ex-PGDM programme in 2012The focus of the newly launched programme in its current Avatar is on Market centricity, and is contextual and contemporary in nature.

Dr. Bakul Dholakia, Director General, IMI-New Delhi said “In this new programme, we are at growth and development stage and we expect more from self-sponsored candidates next year.” The programme started with an orientation of the 30 participants, of which, the 12 international participants are from various developing countries.

Prof Barnali Chaklader, Chairperson- FPM Programme and Research, IMI-New Delhi stated that ‘Ex-PGDM is a unique programme of its kind in India and perhaps in Asia with participants from PSUs, Private sectors and International participants’. She expressed that Executive education in this format has a bright future in our country.

Executive Education in India has undergone tremendous changes in past few decades. One year MBA programmes as a part of lifelong learning in Europe and USA have been a successful product. These programmes are aimed at focusing on career growth and acquiring management skills as oppose to Asia where it has been focusing on continuing education.
