Prof GV Muralidhara of ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad was presented the Top Case Award at the Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Congress held at San Diego, USA on September 24, 2016. 

Hyderabad: Prof GV Muralidhara of ICFAI Business School (IBS), Hyderabad was presented the Top Case Award at the Project Management Institute (PMI) Global Congress held at San Diego, USA on September 24, 2016.

The case study ‘Odisha’s Disaster Risk Reduction: Coping with the Challenges of Cyclone Phailin’ authored by Prof GV Muralidhara and Hadiya Faheem was adjudged the best case study in the teaching case competition organised by the PMI, headquartered in Philadelphia, USA.

The case study discusses how proactive disaster planning by the state government and the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority Limited the loss of lives during the massive tropical cyclone Phailin that hit the coastal state in the year 2013.

The case also brings out the importance of post-disaster community rehabilitation in such events. PMI is the world’s largest not-for-profit membership association for the project management profession with 450,000 global members.

It serves the profession of project management through globally recognized standards, certification program, academic and research programs, chapters, training, education and thought leadership.
