Four research projects of second year MBBS students of GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences & Research were approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research. These selected students will be conducting the research during the academic year 2017-18.

Visakhapatnam: Four research projects of second year MBBS students of GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences & Research were approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research. These selected students will be conducting the research during the academic year 2017-18. This is the first time that four students’ research proposals from single medical college from the state were selected, said GIMSR principal Dr SP Rao here on Thursday.

One of the research studies involves isolating and analysing the causes of urinary tract infections among pregnant women in Visakhapatnam. Congratulating the students, GITAM University Vice-Chancellor Prof MS Prasada Rao expressed that such achievements during student period will boost the enthusiasm and zeal among medical students. He also felt that such research aptitude is a mandatory component for the MBBS students in the present context.
