Nellore: Municipal Minister P Narayana said that they would improve standards in govrnment junior colleges. The Minister inspected vacant buildings of V R College and V R High School here on Monday and instructed the officials to renovate the classrooms.

Speaking to the media here, Narayana said that they would utilise vacant buildings of the V R college and school for government Junior college which is going to be set up by the Nellore Municipal Corporation. The civic body would provide hostel facility for the students in the college campus after renovating them, he added.

He said that proposed junior college would be functioning from this academic year and number of sections would be increased gradually. He also said that IIT foundation course has been giving better results in all municipal schools. About 49 students have got 10/10 GPA this year, he added.

He also said that they would provide quality education in the proposed junior college for the students, who excelled in SSC exams, after conducting counselling on May 24. Only 200 students have been joining in government junior colleges as against 2,000 students passing out from government schools, Narayana lamented.

Measures would be taken to provide basic amenities for quality education in government junior colleges, he added. Corporation Commissioner S Dilli Rao and others were present.
