The latest makeup trend that's buzzing on social media is mermaid makeup. Many girls have posted their versions of the same under #mermaidmakeup on Instagram. Tutorial videos on how to apply them have also been posted. While you may try a few OTT ones for a costume/theme party, the subtler versions of this makeup can be sported for an evening out with friends. Here's how you can try mermaid makeup...
Use a brush or sponge to apply the makeup over the mask. Go for contrasting colours. For instance, take sea-blue shade and apply on your cheekbone and forehead.
Once done, take light-green colour and apply it below the sea-blue shade.
Now, use some pastel colour over the blue and green shades. But don't apply this all over the mermaid makeup. It's only to give a shiny effect.
Next, remove the mask and see the fish scales you've got on your face.
For the eyes, go for some glitter. If you want to use the same colour as your scales, take three shades closer to blue and apply them.
You can also go for glitter in bold colours. Why not some pink on your eyelids? Apply pink glitter on your eyelids and use a bit of purple on top of that. Add some green shade to give it a winged effect. Use mascara for your lashes and apply silver glitter beneath your eyes.
Don't leave out your eyebrows. Highlight them by using a bit of pink and green.
What next? Choose a colour for your lips. If you are feeling... err daring, go for a bright blue shade. Or play it safe by opting for pink lips. Add some shiny gloss over it and there you go...
