Narayankhed: For the first time in the history of Narayankhed, a sea of humanity gathered for the constituency’s biggest public meeting addressed by none other than Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday. About 40,000 people sloganeered, cheered and danced to the tunes of performers who sang in support of the party to win the by-election.
Addressing the massive gathering, the Chief Minister asked the people to take a wise decision while casting their vote. He detailed all the welfare schemes taken up by the State government including Asara pensions, reduction of electricity bills for Nayi Brahmins, exempting auto drivers from taxes, provision of thin rice in government hostels, Rs 5 lakh insurance scheme for 10 lakh drivers across Telangana and so on.
Referring to a news item appeared in The Hans India, Chandrashekar Rao expressed dismay over the way the women in certain hamlets were reusing water by taking bath on wired cots. The Chief Minister said that he would clean the feet of the people of Narayankhed by irrigating their fields with Godavari water through Gattilingampally project.
He promised the people that 240 hamlets in the constituency would soon be declared as gram panchayats. He also said 12 per cent reservation for girijans (STs) would be implemented soon. Observing that there was no freedom for Narayankhed even 60 years after independence due to goondagiri, dadagiri and blackmailing politics which had pushed the constituency into forced backwardness, he said that the whole world had been waking up lately and that it was time for the people of Narayankhed to wake up as well.
“Repeating the GHMC results is your responsibility and to develop Narayankhed like Hyderabad is mine,” he declared. “If you want development, vote for Bhoopal Reddy,” he added. He promised the people that after the by-election on February 13, he would spend two days in the constituency, touring all the mandals.
