It was a colourful atmosphere at the 62nd week of Raahgiri as people ushered in Holi celebrations on Sunday. Adhering to their spirit of being eco-friendly and sensitising people for causes, the celebrations sprang with organic colours that were made with turmeric and besan.

“We are introducing new themes based on the important days, festivals and any special occasions. The idea is not only to celebrate, but also to sensitise the people to not to harm nature for fun. We asked people to use organic colours and not to waste water,” said Abhimanika, Zumba Trainer.

Raahgiri also started a ‘share the seat to beat the heat’ campaign to support Car Free Thursday. “It’s so hot outside and we see thousands of people walking and waiting at bus stops. We are asking people to please show humanity and offer a ride,” said one of the organisers.

The week had participation from NGOs like Save Water and Nature (SWAN), Robin Hood army, Sankalp, AmanVedika along with Apollo Hospitals that provided water service to support the movement. Activities included green Holi, desi music band, bollydazz, cycling, Zumba, doodles, street games, kabaddi, tennis and volleyball.
