Meraki Art Gallery is organising an exhibition titled ‘You will find me’ at Park Hyatt. The exhibition is showcasing prints, 2D artworks, sculptures and printmaking works of artist Sumanto Chowdhury. The show will remain open until August 10.

One can find foreground and background in his 2D work, about which Sumanto says, “I am inspired by pop-up cards. In my work, you can see the world from my window/room. These are two dimensions, layered wise. This is a mixed media on wood. Where, one can see interior architect miniature, with fantasy village in the outdoor.”

The artist, who trained in Santiniketan before moving to Hyderabad 11 years ago, is inspired by his mentor K Laxma Goud. “About my printmaking work Laxma sir always says that you attach everything and it will become a nice work.”

The printmaking work, which attracts many eyeballs, is the one, which he made at the printmaking camp held in June at Banyan Heart Studio at Kismathpur. One can find the male and female facing each other with the Gangireddu between them.

In his work you can see rickshaws and what a rickshawala could do if his auto rickshaw had wings. He displayed his Krishna series where one can see the landscape in his face. “I use various elements to create a fantasy landscape,” he says.

His paintings reflect the glimpse of Hyderabad, be it auto or a landscape. “I love Hyderabad and I can make anything with autos. I love these autos in the city and I feel that they are in a hurry and they will fly if they get wings,” shares Sumanto.
