In an interaction with The Hans India, the duo reveals the aspects of music they love.
Describe in brief about you and Anastas!a?
Anastas!a and I are both DJs. We perform, produce and do everything together. We perform as WA (Whosane! & Anastas!a) and WA-TEC, two different acts. WA is our more mainstream sound whilst WA-TEC is the underground flavor.

When did you start your sound/music career as DJ?
Whosane!’s musical journey began in 1987, when the entertainment industry in India was at its nascent stage. We have evolved over the years to production and different aspects of entertainment. Anastas!a teamed up with Whosane! after being mentored by him in 2013.

Tell us about your first album.
Whosane!’s first album was “Moksh” released in 1999 on Times Music. The feeling was absolute ecstasy. Since then he has produced several albums for them, including one with Abida Parveen, and many Bollywood remixes. WA & WA-TEC have released several singles and mashups over the last few years.

WA-TEC Sound went blockbuster and that has an amazing popularity. Are you planning to sing for any shows again?
We have several releases forthcoming next month and shows to perform. We feature other artists to sing on our songs

Who was your inspiration?
No one in particular and yet too many to list! Every day is learning and everyone has been a teacher and inspiration in some way.

Tell us something about your next project.
Our next project is our record label “604 Records” that will focus on releasing electronic dance music of diverse sub genres, and other facets of entertainment, like events and festivals. Happy, groovy, energetic, fun, sexy, bouncy, naughty tunes that will keep the dance floors jumping.

Excited for tonight’s performance at Olive?
As far as the Olive Bistro & Bar anniversary party goes, we are super excited about this one. We love the place, the food, the vibe and the people there. We played last year too for their anniversary and it was just fabulous. This year feels like a homecoming. I’m sure it will be as good as last year or even better!

On this occasion you’re going to tie with Rohan Kapoor. So what do you think it is going to be?
Have no doubt the event will be a smasher. Rohan is a good DJ. We have performed with him earlier too and also looking forward to another good one.

Basically what kind of genre will be there in the DJ?
Genre will be mostly EDM, Hip Hop, Deep House and Retro.

How do you decide the genre for the audience?
Over the years one learns to pick up on the vibe. We listen to the crowd and the crowd listens to us. Once you speak the same language there is communication, and that goes a long way.
