Marriott Hyderabad is hosting Oktoberfest at Altitude – its roof top lounge bar. ‘Oktoberfest’, which began in 1810 as part of royal marriage celebrations in Germany, over the years has become a global trend. For the promotion, Executive Chef Yogender Pal designed a special German food menu, which goes well with beer and uses a lot of beer too.

As the beer tradition in the city is growing at a slow pace, Marriott’s Oktoberfest doesn’t have German beers in the promotion. However, there are some lip-smacking beer cocktails along with draught beer. One can also try the imports - Hoegaarden, Leffe, Corona and Stella Atrois on the menu.

You can start your booze cruise with ‘Get me fresh’— a beer pot mixed with tequila, vodka, rum, gin, Cointreau, lemon juice, simple syrup, fresh cut fruits, cranberry juice, orange juice and bottle beer. This appetising drink will surely lift your spirits. Follow it up with Mexican Shandy, a mix of Tequila, Cointreau, freshly squeezed lime juice and beer for that refreshing feel.

On the food menu was Pickled Egg - The hardboiled egg topped with sausage and garnished with sweet chilli sauce, mustard sauce, vinegar and chilli sauce is a burst of flavours. Also try Suppen (soups); the beer and cheddar soup has pieces of bacon, and is especially aromatic and flavourful.

Other beer cocktails, which are a must try at the fest are, ‘Hangover Set’, a mixture of tequila, vodka, rum, gin, Cointreau, lime juice, simple syrup and beer; ‘Dirty Beer’ – this concoction has whiskey, lime juice, simple syrup, Angostura bitters, orange wedges and beer; ‘Melon Shandy’, this cocktail has vodka, lemon juice, watermelon juice, Amaretto and beer.

Oktoberfest is incomplete without sausages - Pork Curlies with grain mustard; Grilled Bratwurst with mustard and sauerkraut; Weisswurst with pickled onions and caramel mustard; Pork Wurst, which is served with sweet and sour red cabbage and mashed potatoes are all on the menu.

The other food specialties include Beer battered Onion Rings; Sausage Stuffed Jalapeno and Fried Potatoes with Poached Egg – a slice of Germany in short. The live music at the lounge bar boosts the environment, making it a delightful experience.

The beer fiesta continues as the dessert menu includes Beer Caramel Ice Cream; Apple Strudel and Black Forest Cheese Cake.
